Principles of Philosophy

  • Encourage all children in a loving, caring, challenging atmosphere
  • Every child learns at a different rate; the academics should reflect that diversity
  • Children learn like sponges when the lessons are fun and engaging
  • Unnecessary repetition is counter-productive
  • Giftedness is asynchronous (The Columbus Group 1991)
  • Gifted creative production involves the interaction of three characteristics which are above average ability, creativity and task commitment (Renzulli 1978)

We Believe

  • Students need opportunities to interact with their intellectual peers
  • Students need an emotionally nurturing environment that encourages creative and flexible thinking and risk-taking
  • Students need opportunities to develop higher order thinking skills, challenging activities, and authentic learning experiences as components of their curriculum
  • Students need support and guidance to recognize, accept, enhance, and apply their gifts and talents
Parent and staff education and communication are important components of students successes
